Mastering Your Use of Project 2010

Project Professional 2010
Have you been surveying Project Pro 2010 in online stores? If you’re thinking about picking up the productivity app, then it’s time you learned how to use it well. Using Microsoft Project can be a complex task at times. This is why being privy to some rules of thumb can help you expedite your tasks and meet your week’s quotas.

That being said, here are some of the things you can do with the software that can make your assignments much better and much faster:

*Using shortcuts

Use INS if you intend to input blank lines
Choose DEL if you are to remove task lines
Click F3 to discard a filter.

Also take note, that if you delete a Summary task, this will remove every detail task within that task itself.

*Dealing with the start date

For Project 2010, you can get the Move Project button on the ribbon to alter the start date. You also have the option to change the deadlines. You don’t get this in Project 2007 or its previous incarnations. In order to remove the constraints then, you should double click in a task and go to the Advanced tab. This is where you have the option of resetting the Constraint type when you need to.

*altering the working time

Every time you change the working time, you are then permitted to change and create your own calendars. This way you can access the calendars that are to be used in a given project. You can copy this with the Organizer and put it in the Globa.mpt so that you can use it in the future.

You should also note that changing the views so that you can see the alternate calendar is accomplished by right clicking non-working time and by changing the calendar that is currently displayed. This, though will need to be changed in the Gaant chart as it is different per every view.

*how to get plenty of options

You can view feature selection menus simply by giving the Ribbon a right click. You can also do this to the toolbars, the timescale and the other buttons on the document so that you will know what is available to you.

As you can see, these are just some of the things you can accomplish using Ms Project. Whether you get Project 2010 Pro or not is up to you, but it is best if you know the different aspects of its GUI so that you can produce the best quality output there is.
